Saturday was a thriller of a night for those of us who went along to the Michael Jackson HIStory Show in Invercargill.
I left the show singing and dancing into the night to all my favourite MJ hits.
I was blow away by how Michael Jackson impersonator Dantanio Goodman had his performance down pat.
With footage of the real legend performing on a screen behind him, Goodman’s moves were in perfect time to mimic the star, even down to his microphone adjustments and slight face touches.
I found myself looking for flaws, waiting for him to make a wrong move but the performance was seamless from start to finish.
A young girl behind me yelled out “oh my god, is that Michael Jackson?” when he appeared for the first time, I laughed, although at some parts I was almost questioning it myself.
The theatre was crowded with people of all ages. Children donned sparkling gloves and Michael Jackson inspired fedora hats, and adults were dressed to the nines out for a well-deserved night.
People danced at their seats and sung along to their favourite Jackson Five and MJ hits from over the years.
However, it was not only Goodman who stole the show with his performance.
The backup dancers, singers and musicians all sported several talents of their own throughout the evening.
After the show fans lined up to meet the stars themselves – a nice touch for people keen to get photos I thought.
Overall, I think everyone who attended the show would agree it was a fantastic night!
